God, Toshiba... What big babies??? It's like they said you didn't want to play with our ball so we don't want to play at all.

They could do their consumers a favor by sucking it up and work with the Blu-Ray group to improve the technology.

Sweet....aside from the need to buy a big digital TV, a need for a Blu ray player and yes...forget to mention the high price of BR disk...

And I thought my betamax video tapes were high quality. Oh well, I better get one of them high tech DVD players. Move on with the times, and get over the competition thing. Blu-ray looks real nice on the home theatre as long as there is a 7.1 surround sound to back it up.

In a other news RCA-Victor has released an updated version of "8-track". A company spokesman said " If you want cassette tape, CD, Mini-disc or heavens forbid: MP3, then get one of those, this product is meant to improve the ego of baby boomers stuck in the 70's"....

Blu-ray prices will continally drop and Toshiba will stuck sitting on pumpkin at 12 o'clock.

Seems like Toshiba hasn't learned to name its products with catchy names that regular consumers can remember easily. XDE technology? I think they need a new marketing department.

Toshiba, you're truly wonderful :) Focusing on improving DVD quality is exactly whats needed in the market. Blue Ray is nice and would probably go main stream easily if the price of Blue ray would match price of DVD. Why would i pay 8000 yen for blue ray if i can buy same movie on DVD for 3000 yen or lower??? Toshiba is awesome :)

A news item in the sidebar of the LA Times recently said that the porn industry in the region was not going HD, as it showed up too many body flaws like cellulite, surgery scars and love handles. That's it! The biggest seller is staying low-tech. Toshiba is staying with the market!

though bluray discs are currently about 4500 yen a pop in Japan, the US versions all of which are compatible with Japanese players are only about 20 dollars on ebay or Amazon

For the moment TOSHIBA is making the right decision. They can always adapt later on. BR isn't going to become dramatically cheaper soon.
