TOKYO —
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.5 jolted Tokyo and its vicinity Wednesday afternoon, measuring 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Ibaraki Prefecture, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said.
The 3:13 p.m. quake also measured 3 in Ibaraki, Tochigi, Saitama and Chiba prefectures as well as in Tokyo, according to the agency. No tsunami warning was issued, and no damage has been reported so far. The focus of the quake was around 50 kilometers underground in southern Ibaraki Prefecture, according to the agency.

I felt it. I was in my wooden apt. The walls shook, once, twice, and........then stopped. I've felt much worse. Oh, somebody burped I reconciled.

I felt it in Hachioji. It didn't last long, and wasn't any bigger than the ones we normally get.

It was a jolt, kind of a sudden up-and-down quake, not the side-to-side motion you usually get.
